Key Responsibilities
- Design & Integration: Develop and integrate instrumentation systems into aircraft to capture essential flight test data.
- Calibration & Standards: Maintain NIST standards for measurement verification; document and control all calibration processes.
- System Support: Manage hardware and software requirements for data acquisition systems and IADS real-time displays.
- Testing: Support flight testing through the selection and installation of sensors, including strain gauges and accelerometers.
- Collaboration: Work within a multi-disciplinary engineering team to ensure seamless product development and certification.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: Typically 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of engineering principles and hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools.
- Specialization: Direct experience with aircraft instrumentation systems and flight testing sensor designs (strain gauges, accelerometers, etc.).
- Industry Background: Prior experience in the Aerospace and Defense sector.
- Communication Protocols: Familiarity with 1553, ARINC 429, CAN Bus, and Ethernet.
- Hardware/Software: Experience with Curtiss Wright hardware and IADS software.
- Systems Knowledge: Understanding of telemetry systems and model-based definition.
- Manufacturing: Knowledge of electrical component selection and production processes.
- Ability to frequently walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs/steps.
- Fine motor skills and dexterity for repetitive hand/arm motions.
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
- Work is primarily performed indoors with rare exposure to loud noises, fumes, or extreme outdoor elements.
