What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Linked Accounting Alliance?
AWX is scaling the future of IT asset management, and we're hiring our first senior finance leader. Through AssetWorx, we remarket retired data center and enterprise hardware on consignment; through Novex, our new software platform, we manage devices across a customer's workforce. We've grown from zero to 50 employees in seven years across five entities, with acquisitions ahead. If you use AI in your accounting work every day, can own a multi-entity close, and want a real path to CFO, we'd like to talk.
The role
The Controller owns accounting for the whole group and holds the Finance seat on our leadership team. You'll step into a clean system that was just built: a standardized chart of accounts, dimension structure, automated intercompany eliminations, consolidated reporting in Intuit Enterprise Suite, and a written procedures library. A fractional CFO will build alongside you and hand off, and a fractional bookkeeper supports you through the transition.
There's no team yet, so this is hands-on from day one. It grows into a real department, and a credible path to CFO, as we scale. Our accounting is genuinely non-standard, and the right person finds that interesting and wants to own it.
What you'll own
- The monthly close across all entities, including intercompany eliminations and consolidated reporting
- Revenue recognition under ASC 606: principal-vs-agent judgment, settlement-date recognition, matching consignment settlements to COGS, and ratable recognition of platform fees
- Inventory accounting, including spotting when consignment treatment distorts inventory and margins
- The group budget and a rolling forecast
- Cash management across the entity structure, including the sweep into the holding company
- AR and AP, including customer payouts and credit balances applied against Novex invoices
- The general ledger and reconciliations, automating routine work wherever you can
- Internal controls, delegation of authority, and approval workflows in Ramp
- Diligence-ready consolidated financials for ownership, lenders, and other outside parties
- Integrating acquired companies onto our chart of accounts and close calendar
- The planned ERP move to NetSuite or Sage Intacct
- Coordination with our outside CPA firm on tax and R&D credits
What we're looking for
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 as a controller, assistant controller, or accounting manager in industry
- A full monthly close you personally owned, start to finish
- Multi-entity accounting, intercompany, and consolidation experience (holding company experience is a strong plus)
- Working command of ASC 606 and the confidence to form a position, write it down, and defend it
- Inventory accounting and budgeting/forecasting experience
- Strong Excel; QuickBooks or Intuit Enterprise Suite, Ramp, and Rippling preferred
- NetSuite or Sage Intacct implementation and M&A integration experience are a plus
- Bachelor's in accounting or finance; CPA preferred, not required
- Proficient, daily use of AI tools in your accounting work, and a bias toward automation. We are building a finance function where routine work is automated and human judgment is spent on the parts that need it. You should be able to show us how you already use AI to do your job better.
What would make you stand out
- Consignment or settlement-model experience
- Taking a business from owner-managed books to audit- or diligence-ready financials
- Joining a now-large company when it was small and scaling with it
Compensation and benefits
- $125,000–$150,000 base, depending on experience, plus bonus
- Medical, dental, and paid time off
- Flexible schedule, company-provided computer, and a private office
- In-office in American Fork, Utah, with flexibility for some remote work
- Growth Opportunity into a potential CFO seat
Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
