Location: Richmond, VA - local candidates ONLY
Position Type: Hybrid - must be able to work on-site 3 days a week initially.
Contract Length: 10 months, likely extension
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a senior SQL Server database / Azure database administrator to join their Oracle/SQL Server Database Administration Team.
Duties:
- Monitor databases to maintain/ensure database uptime and availability.
- Troubleshoot application/database issues related to connectivity, access, security and etc.
- Tune long running SQL
- Review & refine existing database tasks and processes to better align with agency/group priorities.
- Leverage & utilize O/S scripting utilities in support of database maintenance/diagnosis/support.
- Review the existing database implementation and propose, execute, and/or direct necessary changes.
- Perform SQL Server installations (2012,2014,2016 w/ failover clustering).
- Support SQL Server databases (administration, support, tuning).
- Knowledgeable of data modeling principals
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other applicable and/or equivalent skills, knowledge and/or work history
- 5 years of experience with SQL Server Database Management
- 2 years of experience with SQL Server Tuning
- 2 years of experience working with SSIS, SSRS & SSAS
- 3 years of expertise in installing, upgrading, patching and migrating SQL Server databases
- 2 years of DB Administration on Azure Cloud experience
- Expertise working with SQL clustering, mirroring and high availability
- Experience working with large SQL databases
- Expertise in writing Transact SQL
- Experience tuning Oracle and/or SQL Server databases
Preferred Skills:
- Coding & debugging Transact SQL
- SQL Server 2016-2022
