Survey Party Chief

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Survey Party Chief with 5 years experience or more. You will oversee survey field operations, lead and coordinate field crews, and ensure the accuracy and quality of all survey data collected.

Duties

• Lead and supervise survey crews in performing construction layout surveys, topographic mapping, ALTA surveys, boundary delineations and hydrographic/bathymetric surveys.
• Operate and calibrate advanced surveying equipment including total stations, RTK GPS/GNSS systems, and automatic or digital levels to gather precise data.
• Conduct utility locating to identify underground infrastructure using specialized tools and techniques to prevent project delays or hazards.
• Prepare preliminary survey sketches, schematics, and CAD drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS software for project documentation.
• Perform data collection with field tools such as levels, hand tools, GPS units, and data collectors while maintaining meticulous records of all survey activities.
• Analyze survey data for accuracy; interpret legal descriptions; create construction staking plans; and ensure adherence to project specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to review survey requirements and deliver high-quality results efficiently.

Skills

• Proficiency operating surveying equipment including total stations, RTK GPS/GNSS systems, levels (automatic or digital), and data collectors.
• Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar), GIS platforms (ArcGIS or similar), Carlson or similar, Leica Infinity or similar.
• Skilled in construction layout surveys, construction staking, legal descriptions interpretation, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, hydrographic/bathymetric surveys, and heavy lifting of equipment when required.
• Ability to perform utility locating accurately to identify underground utilities using specialized tools; familiarity with schematics is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and stakeholders; ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
• sUAS FAA Part 107 drone experience preferred

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
