Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Adult Day Health Care Program LPN is supervised by the ADHCP R.N. The job duties and responsibilities are to be performed while observing the following standards: job standard (knowledge, ability, skills), technical skill, quality, quantity, judgement/problem solving, decision making, and initiative. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
A. Possess a general knowledge of all aspects of the Adult Day Health Care Program.
B. Oversee and deliver direct registrant care and assist CNAs when necessary.
C. Deliver treatments and administer medications per M.D. order and registrant Plan of Care.
D. Report needed supplies and repairs to Program Director.
E. Report to the Program RN, the condition of registrants and results of treatment. Report to physician, the condition of registrants; document changes in orders and sees orders to their conclusion. Transcribe and follow through on physician orders.
F. Arrange for transfer of registrants to hospitals or clinics as needed.
G. Transport registrants.
H. Is responsible for knowing and following registrants’ plan of care.
I. Collect specimens as necessary, and record and report results.
J. Assist with required documentation as directed by the Director of Adult Day Health Care Program.
K. Perform other related duties as required by their manager.

Qualifications
A. Education and Training - Currently licensed and registered to practice as a practical nurse in New York State. Additional training in area of geriatrics is preferred. Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Must be interested in gaining knowledge of new procedures and methods through seminars and inservices.
B. Experience - The Licensed Practical Nurse must have the ability to work under the supervision of an R.N., must possess knowledge and experience in pharmacology and have an understanding of untoward and adverse drug reactions and the ability to recognize symptoms of such; must also have knowledge and/or experience in medication administration and treatment provision.
C. Character - Must be of good moral character having patience and compassion for the elderly; must be cooperative, professional in appearance, and keep all registrant information in strictest confidence.
