Duties
- Develop comprehensive construction estimates for commercial projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project scope documents.
- Conduct thorough site visits to gather firsthand information on existing conditions and potential challenges that may impact costs or scheduling.
- Quantity takeoffs including quantifying materials, labor and equipment needed from blueprints.
- Negotiate effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure favorable pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate with project management teams to establish accurate budgets, timelines, and cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review contracts and scope documents meticulously to ensure all aspects of the project are accurately estimated and aligned with client expectations.
- Monitor ongoing project costs against estimates to identify variances early and implement corrective actions promptly.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating within commercial projects demonstrating a strong understanding of construction processes and cost drivers.
- Solid knowledge of negotiation techniques to secure competitive pricing without compromising quality or safety standards.
- Hands-on construction site experience that provides insight into field operations, safety protocols, and project management practices.
- Strong understanding of contracts, scope development, cost control strategies, and project management principles.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating effectively with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to achieve project goals efficiently.
