JOB TITLE SUMMARY
Job Title: Coordinator, Box Office and Patron Services
Division: Advancement and Community Engagement

Job Summary
The box office and patron services coordinator is responsible for the oversight and execution of all ticketing and front-of-house operations for the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts and other campus events as needed. The coordinator ensures proper functioning of local, remote, and online ticketing systems and local patron services; supervises volunteer ushers; and provides general customer service.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

Job Responsibilities and Execution
  • Trains and manages volunteer ushers; coordinates usher training and incentive supplies; maintains usher sign-up website
  • Coordinates local and remote box office operations, including all ticketing system operations, ticket sales, and cash management
  • Coordinates all front-of-house operations, including ushering, concessions, coat check, climate, signs, stanchions, and merch tables
  • Serves as main point-of-contact for ushers
  • Coordinates security, catering, and hospitality needs with Operations for all events
  • Coordinates upkeep and maintenance for the lobby, theater, and surrounding spaces during performances and as needed
  • Resolves matters of significance regarding front-of-house operations and general customer service
  • Organizes and maintains box office common area; tracks box office inventory and anticipates supply needs
  • Assists box office manager with event construction, proofreading material, and database management to include entering, updating, and cleaning user information
  • Assist with housekeeping of box office and setup of mobile box offices
  • Coordinates mobile box office functions with campus event managers, employees, and volunteers
  • Coordinates with other departments and external rentals to execute events including attending production meetings
  • Sells tickets during box office hours and covers employee breaks; assumes the duties of the box office manager in their absence
  • Works with staff during events to ensure patron needs are met
  • Maintains detailed records of all sales, donations, and expenditures
  • Manages daily operational, financial, and business functions efficiently while strictly adhering to University policies

  • Ensures staff provide excellent customer service at campus box office events
  • Resolves escalated customer issues, including refunds and scalping
  • Actively assists patrons with ticketing issues
Communication, Teamwork, and Collaboration
  • Collaborates with box office manager to ensure optimal attendance, sales, service, and events
  • Assists in the coordination of building tours and lobby displays
  • Manages concurrent events alongside box office manager
  • Leads teams of student workers and volunteers during events
Job may require other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in customer service or related field
  • Box office experience preferred
  • Theater experience preferred
  • Managerial/supervisory experience preferred
