Precious Metals & Jewelry Buyer

Job Summary:

The Precious Metals & Jewelry Buyer is responsible for evaluating, testing, and purchasing gold, silver, platinum, diamonds, fine jewelry, luxury watches, coins, bullion, and estate pieces from the public. This role requires strong customer service skills, accuracy, integrity, and the ability to identify precious metals and gemstones with confidence.

You will be the face of Linden Gold Buyers: providing trustworthy guidance, fair offers, and a luxury-level experience for every customer.

Customer Service & Buying

• Greet customers warmly and create a comfortable, high-trust buying environment.
• Evaluate items including: gold, silver, platinum, diamonds, luxury watches, coins, bullion, estate jewelry, and scrap metals.
• Test and authenticate precious metals using acid testing, magnets, electronic testers, and specific gravity testing.
• Identify karat, weight, purity, and market value.
• Examine diamonds using loupe, diamond tester, and grading fundamentals (cut, color, clarity, carat).
• Provide clear explanations of the evaluation process to customers.
• Generate competitive offers based on market pricing and company guidelines.
• Negotiate respectfully while maintaining professionalism and profitability.

Record Keeping & Compliance

• Enter transactions in the POS system accurately.
• Complete all required police reports, daily transaction logs, and documentation.
• Verify customer identification (ID, passport, supporting documents).
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Follow all store policies for holding periods, reporting, and security procedures.

Store Operations

• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace.
• Assist with displaying items, inventory management, and light merchandising.
• Handle payments, receipts, and financial accuracy of each deal.
• Follow security protocols at all times.
• Support the team with basic accounting checks and daily closing tasks.
• Experience in jewelry buying or pawn industry.
• Knowledge of gold testing, diamond grading, or coin evaluation.
• Familiarity with precious metals markets and daily spot pricing.
• Experience with estate jewelry or luxury brands (Rolex, Cartier, Tiffany, etc.).

A plus if you have:

• Multilingual ability (helpful for customer communication).
