Controller (Contract-to-Hire) - Immediate Need

Lincoln Search Consultants is working with a privately held industrial / distribution-oriented organization in the Madison area seeking a Controller on a contract-to-hire basis. This is an immediate need tied to leadership transition and the desire to bring in a strong accounting leader who can quickly stabilize the function and partner closely with the CFO.
What you'll own
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations
- Oversee AP, AR, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Strengthen internal controls and accounting processes
- Coordinate annual audit activity
- Support budgeting, analysis, and financial visibility for leadership
- Provide coaching and leadership to accounting staff
What they're looking for
- Prior Controller, Corporate Controller, Division Controller, or strong Accounting Manager background
- Manufacturing, distribution, industrial, or operational environment preferred
- Strong hands-on accounting leadership
- Ability to step into an evolving team environment and create stability quickly
- Comfortable working directly with senior leadership
Work model
- Hybrid: approximately 2–3 days onsite weekly in the Madison area
- Contract initially, with potential for long-term conversion
- Immediate start preferred
Compensation
- Target annualized range around $170K, with flexibility based on experience and structure
Salary : $85 - $115
