What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hourly English Learner Tutor/Mentor position at Lincoln Public Schools?
Location: Lincoln High School, Northeast High School, Northstar High School
Job Description: Seeking individuals to assist and support students academically in a 9th through 12th grade setting.
Tutor/Mentors will provide in-person tutoring and mentoring services to Lincoln Public Schools students. Sessions will be in classrooms, school media centers, and/or other assigned school spaces with LPS staff present. Tutoring and mentoring will be with EL (English Learner) students with the goal of helping students increase academic proficiency, acclimate to education in the U.S., increase civic and social engagement, and connect with a positive and caring adult. Tutor/Mentors will be issued an LPS Chromebook.
The work schedule will be established by the English Learner Advocate Specialist at LPS. Training will also be provided and must be completed prior to working directly with students.
Academic Requirement: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior status in college, or have a Bachelor degree or higher. Successful candidate for this position will be required to submit an official transcript to verify they have met the educational requirement posted.
Fluent in a language (speaking, reading, and writing), other than English that will be useful in communicating with students. (Language to be determined.)
Pay: $25.00 an hour
This position is subject to a veterans preference.
