CERTIFIED SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS - Current, Former, or Retired LPS Teachers (2026-2027 school year)
Do not apply for this position if you are NOT a current, former or retired Lincoln Public Schools Teacher.
Certified Substitute Teachers – Current, Former, or Retired Teachers are individuals who have been hired as certified employees (current or former) with Lincoln Public Schools.
Substitute teachers are those who hold a bachelor degree (or higher) in education. Applicants who do NOT hold a degree in education, apply for the Certified, Local Substitute Teacher, 2026-2027 application.
Full Day Pay Rate: $192.12
Half Day Pay Rate: $96.05
*These rates are from the 2025-2026 school year. The rates for 2026-2027 are pending board approval.
Certification Requirement:
- Requires Nebraska Teaching (Initial, Standard or Professional) or State Substitute certificate
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Current LPS employees retiring or changing from a benefits eligible position to a Substitute Only position are subjected to PPACA or NPERS re-employment rules and will need to wait 90 or 180 days.
