Referral Coordinator
Lincoln Family Medical Group is a primary care physician practice with a focus on physical, mental, and spiritual health.
We're currently hiring a Medical Assistant to fill the role of Referral Coordinator. We are looking for a detail oriented, team player who enjoys multi-tasking and taking initiative in this fast-paced environment. This position plays a critical role in the facilitation of teamwork, communication, and positive office environment for providers, co-workers, and patients. Must uphold the highest standards of patient care and the importance of patient confidentiality.
As with any medical office position, interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Work requires a positive approach to multiple assignments that require attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating specialist, radiology, and other medical appointments with a variety of physicians’ offices and medical entities in the community.
- Accurately collects information from providers to process orders for outside referrals and/or service. Contacts include other physicians’ offices or entities providing medical services.
- Collects adequate information during patient calls and in person to evaluate their questions and scheduling requests.
- Obtains any necessary prior-authorizations.
- Relays advice or instructions in person or by phone; gives concise, accurate directions and information regarding appointments scheduled.
- Acts as an advocate for patients. Connects to various community resources to achieve referrals for care for patients .
- Works at multi-tasking with attention to detail.
- Able to self-motivate and work independently, as well as working together with other departments and providers.
- Organizing and maintaining a variety of medical health records, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
- Maintain patient confidence. Follow compliance requirements and HIPAA guidelines.
- Answering phone calls promptly. Completing requests efficiently.
- Takes initiative to enhance referral department procedures and capabilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 1 year medical office experience
