Job Description (Duties And Responsibilities)
- Provides technical support to engineers in areas such as new product development, risk evaluations, warranty failure evaluations, and production issues, process improvement, or product development.
- Communicate and work proficiently with other engineering and technical staff.
- Interact professionally with external resources such as test labs, consultants, and suppliers.
- Create test and validation setups for component, subsystem, and machine levels that exhibit safety focused, professional quality, ergonomic, and environmentally responsible methods.
- Make recommendations for improving test efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support and suggest projects that align with strategic corporate goals or programs.
- Work can be electrical, mechanical, industrial or chemical in nature depending upon background and job assignment.
- Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems.
- Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures and performs detailed mathematical calculations.
- Work in Machine R&D laboratory assisting multiple projects in the design, construction, and testing.
- Use data acquisition system, computers, and CAD as required.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation.
- Operate basic lab equipment including meters, oscilloscopes, data acquisition, environmental chambers, vibration tables, EMC related, etc. (Training provided as needed).
- Associates degree (relevant experience preferred); or vocational training with 5 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma/GED with 7 years relevant experience required.
- Has full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures (or deep skills in a single area) through job-related training and considerable work experience.
- Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise.
- Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments.
- Works with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments.
- Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Highly motivated, quick to learn, and safety conscious.
- Ability to organize and maintain a neat work area.
- Able to create and maintain detailed test records.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with supervision and clear instruction.
- Familiarity with personal computers using the Windows® operating system.
- Ability to use common laboratory equipment.
- Ability to read and comprehend wiring diagrams, schematics, and test specifications.
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Good hands-on assembly, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Easy to get along in a group and team environment.
- Electrical/electronic experience is a plus.
- Good attendance record.
