What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications Intern position at LINCOLN CENTER?

Department:  Communications 

Program Overview: The Lincoln Center Internship Program is a paid, in-person arts administration internship designed for NYC-based undergraduate and graduate students seeking meaningful, real-world experience in the cultural sector. 

This program cultivates the next generation of leaders by offering hands-on work opportunities and access to professionals across the arts and culture field.

  • A Conversation Series featuring leaders across Lincoln Center  
  • Access to special events that reflect Lincoln Center’s mission as the world’s leading performing arts center

What you’ll get to do: 

  • Press & Media Support
    • Conduct research to identify new press prospects and build media contact lists
    • Draft and submit event listings and calendar pitches to local and hyperlocal media outlets
    • Assist with monitoring, tracking, and compiling press coverage across print, digital, and broadcast outlets
    • Occasionally help manage or track inquiries 
  • Event & Onsite Support
    • Provide onsite assistance at performances, events, and galas—including press check-in, photography coordination, camera shadowing, and interviews
  • Assist with event prep, including assembling face sheets, tip sheets, briefers, and run-of-show documents
  • Capture simple b-roll footage using a phone during events as requested
  • Photography & Asset Coordination
    • Help create and maintain photography schedules, shot lists, and run-of-show documents
    • Support onsite photography needs, including collecting photo waivers and shadowingLincoln Center’s photographers
    • Generate digital waivers and support QR code, DAM link, and asset workflows
    • Help review, route, and share approved photo selects following events
    • Gather, label, and organize photo assets in Dropbox and Lincoln Center’s DAM system
  • Administrative & Organizational Support / Collaboration
    • Collaborate with the social media team on shared photo assets and content needs
    • Maintain internal calendars, spreadsheets, contact lists, and departmental trackers
    • Assist with Dropbox organization, DAM uploads, and file-naming conventions
    • Proof select press materials and occasional social media copy
    • Stay informed on trends in arts, media, and culture to support PR planning
    • Perform additional administrative PR tasks as needed

You'll be a great fit if are:  

  • A recent college graduate or current graduate student interested in communications, PR, journalism, media studies, or marketing
  • Based in New York City or the Greater NYC area
  • Available to work 20 hours per week fromFebruary–May2026
  • Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
  • Strong in written communication with excellent grammar and clarity
  • Experienced in writing for a publication, blog, newsletter, or communications class
  • A proactive collaborator who engages well with staff, artists, and media partners
  • Familiar with or curious about arts/media reporting
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and basic digital tools
  • Passionate about the performing arts, leadership, community impact, and Lincoln Center’s mission
  • Exemplify teamwork, organization, innovation, resilience, inclusivity, and enthusiasm
