Role Overview:
This position will support the day-to-day end users of tactical satellite systems including but not limited to SNAP, SWAN, ISA, Micro VSAT, tactical SATCOM radio, and WPPL to include Air Force Nuclear Command and Control & Communications Weapon System (AN/USQ-225) nodes, with maintenance and or operational support. The candidate will also provide onsite support and perform maintenance in the field as required by the Government.

Specific Skillset
- Formal operator training for tactical SATCOM systems.
- Protocol/Network Theory Experience.
- Understanding, configuration, and troubleshooting ability of DMVPN Architecture.
- Be able to perform routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, RIPand RIP).
- Switching fundamentals (Virtual Local Area Network System (VLANS), VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP), Port Security, Spanning Tree).
- Know Cisco Encryption Concepts within a DMVPN Architecture.
- Know Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) Acceleration over Satellite concepts.
- Install, operate, and maintain Tactical VSAT systems.
- Install, operate, and maintain the SIPR/NIPR Access Point (SNAP) terminal.
- Install, operate, and maintain the Inflatable Satellite Antenna (ISA) terminal.
- Install, operate, and maintain the Micro VSAT terminal
- Install, operate, and maintain the tactical SATCOM radio.
- Install, operate, and maintain the LINKWAY® Master Reference Terminal (MRT)/Network Controller.
- Install, operate, and maintain iDirect modems or Hub terminals.
- Configure Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) networks for Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Networks (DMVPN).
- Install, operate, and maintain the WPPL B and D systems.
- Configure and integrate COMSEC equipment i.e. KG -175D, KG-175 Classic, KG-250X, and KG-175E into all tactical SATCOM systems.
- Manage and maintain telecommunication installation supplies.
- Maintain daily on-hand inventories.
- Provide training on tactical SATCOM equipment when required.
- Configure Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) network modems
- Handle other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
Experience Requirements
- 3-7 years of experience with Satellite Communications
- 2 years experience operating in a tactical environment operating/maintaining antenna controllers, Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA), Low Noise Amplifier (LNA), Low Noise Block (LNB), up and down converters, Fiber optic/Coax/Ethernet Cable, Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA)/TDMA modems (satellite modems).
- Experience and skill with commercial and military satellite acquisition procedures, IP routing and switching, Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP), Quality of Service (QoS), Voice and Data - T1/E1, Foreign Exchange Server (FXS), and commercial TDMA/FDMA modems required. Experience with the MRT desired.
- Experience with Satellite Line of Sight and Near Line of Sight transport methods.
