Job Summary
This position must support the die cast/trim, CNC, and other services' efforts to keep a continuous flow of high quality castings through the plant and to the customer by accurately providing and reporting the significant aspects of the visual, dimensional, and process information available. This position must promote a predictive, not reactive, maintenance philosophy by taking a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and quality. This position must promote plant wide safety and housekeeping, and follow established guidelines for visual management.
Responsibilities
- This position is accountable for managing the costing, design acquisition and approval of economical die cast tooling & CNC tooling, other secondary operations” as we do a lot of heat treating, assembly, and coating at this point.
- Assures the ready availability of economical tooling for the production process in support of manufacturing, customers and the overall division.
- Responsible and accountable for overall plant/cell layout for safety and efficiency, equipment selection and maintenance guidance utilizing policies, guidelines and procedures governed by the Shiloh Production System.
- Accountable for the development of new product/process and oversees the installation of related equipment.
- Plans, oversees and supervises the Plant's design and development of die cast tooling & CNC tooling in support of manufacturing needs and objectives.
- Consults with other personnel within the division in the development of tooling requirements and specifications; coordinates common engineering activities within the division.
- Assures engineering and die cast tooling standards are followed.
- Responsible for coordinating project from inception until samples are approved by customer and for tooling from inception until tools are scrapped.
- Motivates department personnel to practice Shiloh values when interacting with customers, vendors, or other department or plant personnel to foster a more participative environment.
- Maintain plant within environmental compliance of all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Meets budget projections.
- Provides leadership in process development and moving the company forward with technological advances.
- Responsible for ensuring that environmental management system requirements are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the International Standard.
- Responsible for reporting on the performance of the environmental management system to top management for review and as a basis for improvement of the environmental management system.
Academic/Educational Requirements
- Engineering Bachelor's degree or technical degree from four-year college or university.
- Four to six years related experience and/or training.
- High School Diploma or equivalency (HSED or GED).
Required Skills/Experience
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Computer literate to write, read, and reply to e-mail.
- Microsoft Office, Excel and MS Project experience preferred, and B&L AS400.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Working Conditions
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, In office, Production area as required. Please note: All schedules and changes to working hours must be approved by the department manager. Schedule is subject to change based on discretion of department manager.
- Standing and walking, occasionally for long periods, within manufacturing facilities.
- Sitting and typing at a computer.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Required to look at parts and see processes/operations.
- Office environment at workstation.
- Typical manufacturing environment when on shop floor:
- Elevated noise levels
- Elevated temperatures near ovens and in summer
- Proximity to moving equipment.
Facility Specific
Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location including but not limited to:
- ISO 45001: Health and Safety management system standard.
- ISO 14001: Environmental Management system standard.
- IATF 16949 Technical Specification Management and Linamar Quality Basics system standards.
