We are currently seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) based in our Windsor, CT facility.
Summary of Position:
The Chief Information Officer is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and support of applications and systems for both internal and customer-facing usage. Working with partners in all LIMRA and LOMA business units, the CIO will direct and manage computing and information technology strategic plans, policies, programs and schedules for business and enterprise systems, and manage information services to meet corporate goals and objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for companywide technologies through all stages of planning, development, testing and deployment as well as ensuring requirements are met and compliance with industry best practices. The CIO is a strategic thought leader, championing the use of technology to improve the revenue, profitability, and efficiency of the organization. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that both internal and partner development resources are leveraged across all business units.
The incumbent must have a high degree of interpersonal skill to communicate with all levels of staff and LIMRA and LOMA leadership on a regular basis, and to direct, coach and motivate their direct reports.
They will be a “developer” of people ensuring that the IT staff stays up-to-date with advancements in the field. They must be a transformational leader and have strong strategic thinking and business acumen.
This position is an integral part of the success of LIMRA and LOMA and will be part of the senior leadership team. They will contribute to the development of a strong employee-focused culture and drive a process improvement mentality.
The incumbent will also interface with industry executives, including leading the association’s CIO member collaboration group.
Core Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Leadership
• Refine and execute enterprise technology roadmap aligned to the organization’s strategic pillars (knowledge, insights, connections, and solutions) and key success measures (member experience, employee experience, revenue growth, and operating income).
• Champion digital transformation across all business units, ensuring scalable and secure platforms.
• Partnering with the Chief AI and Business Transformation Officer, lead the adoption of emerging technologies including Generative AI and Agentic AI, while balancing innovation with risk mitigation.
• Drive the technology agenda across business lines to deliver measurable impact.
Enterprise IT Operations
• Oversee the architecture, development, and support of all enterprise platforms such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Salesforce, NetSuite, JIRA, etc.
• Manage technology infrastructure, IT lifecycle, vendor relationships, service management, and enterprise software.
• Ensure robust business continuity, disaster recovery, and infrastructure performance.
Data, Cybersecurity and Governance
• Lead the organization’s data strategy, transforming it into a data-driven enterprise with internal optimization and external data monetization.
• Continue execution on a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy aligned to evolving threats.
• Work with the Chief AI and Business Transformation Officer to execute on established AI governance and responsible use frameworks that ensure ethical, secure, and value-aligned AI adoption.
People Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT and digital transformation team.
• Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, transparency, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Represent technology at the executive leadership table, serving as a thought partner to business unit leaders.
Stakeholder Engagement and Industry Influence
• Build strong partnerships with peers, executives, and external stakeholders including vendors, and global partners.
• Represent the organization in industry forums as appropriate.
• Lead the industry CIO leaders collaboration group.
Qualifications
• Proven leadership experience as a CIO or senior IT executive in a complex, mission-driven organization (association, nonprofit, or industry consortium strongly preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 15 years of progressively increasing responsibility.
• 15 years of hands-on coaching, mentoring and managing IT teams, preferably geographically distributed.
• Demonstrated success in leading large-scale digital transformations.
• Deep understanding of cloud technologies, enterprise platforms, data strategy, cybersecurity, and modern software delivery.
• Experience managing IT budgets and vendor ecosystems to optimize financial resources.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication capabilities
• Proven track record of successful people management and leadership
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all levels of management, staff, customers, and vendors
• Strong attention to detail and logical/critical thinking
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities; ability to adapt to changing priorities
• Ability to develop division-level strategic plans and contribute to larger enterprise strategic plans
• Demonstrates an executive presence that engenders trust and credibility; able to present to a variety of audiences including C-Suite and Board of Directors
