Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
- Perform animal handling, including restraint techniques for various species.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, including injections and oral medications.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of treatments provided.
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments and managing client communications.
- Ensure cleanliness of the clinic, including kennels, examination rooms, and surgical areas.
- Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes to the veterinarian promptly.
- Assist in laboratory procedures, including sample collection and processing.
- Provide basic grooming and care for animals in the clinic.
Skills
- Kennel experience is preferred to ensure familiarity with animal care environments.
- Understanding of animal husbandry practices to promote health and well-being.
- Previous veterinary technician or assistant experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of veterinary critical care protocols is beneficial.
- Proficiency in veterinary terminology to facilitate effective communication within the clinic.
- Strong skills in animal restraint techniques for safe handling during examinations.
