Our Veterinary Assistants play a vital role in supporting our veterinarians and ensuring exceptional patient care. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about animal health, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys working as part of a team.
Responsibilities include assisting veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures; obtaining patient histories from clients; collecting blood, urine, and other diagnostic samples; placing intravenous catheters; administering medications and vaccines as directed; performing in-house laboratory testing; and monitoring hospitalized patients. Veterinary Assistants are also responsible for safely restraining dogs and cats during examinations and procedures, maintaining accurate medical records, preparing treatment areas, and helping keep the hospital clean, organized, and efficient.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, and able to remain calm under pressure. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well with both clients and coworkers are essential. Experience in a veterinary setting is strongly preferred but not required for the right candidate who is eager to learn.
Qualifications:
- Ability to safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Previous veterinary experience strongly preferred
