Position Summary
The Dog Trainer at Lily’s House designs and delivers positive, reward-based training programs for dogs and their owners. This role combines hands-on training with education, helping dogs develop good behavior while building trust and confidence with their owners. A successful candidate is patient, compassionate, and passionate about making a difference in every pet’s life.
Key Responsibilities Training & Behavior
- Conduct one-on-one and group training sessions using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Assess dogs’ behavior, temperament, and learning style to develop individualized training plans.
- Address common behavioral issues, including leash pulling, jumping, and separation anxiety.
- Track progress and adjust training programs as needed.
Customer Experience
- Educate pet owners on training methods and reinforce positive habits at home.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients about progress, goals, and challenges.
- Represent Lily’s House values through patience, compassion, and expertise.
Facility & Team Support
- Maintain training equipment, tools, and spaces in clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Collaborate with other staff members to provide a seamless experience for pets and clients.
- Attend team meetings and contribute ideas to enhance training programs and services.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in dog training, behavior modification, or animal behavior.
- Proficiency with positive reinforcement methods; fear-based or punitive training is not permitted.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments safely.
- Patience, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in pet care, daycare, or grooming is a plus.
- Certification in dog training or behavior (e.g., CPDT-KA, CCPDT, or equivalent) preferred but not required.
