Job Overview
Lightning Roadside Assistants is hiring Roadside Assistance Technicians (1099 Independent Contractors) to provide on-demand roadside services to stranded motorists. This role is ideal for independent contractors seeking flexible work, consistent job volume, and weekday morning and weekend availability.
Contractors respond to dispatched service requests and complete roadside assistance services independently using their own tools and equipment.
Schedule & Availability
- Weekday mornings: Monday–Friday
- Weekends: Saturday & Sunday (full-day availability)
- Contractors choose which jobs to accept but must reliably cover assigned availability windows
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to roadside assistance service calls
- Perform common roadside services including:
- Jumpstarts
- Battery replacements
- Tire changes
- Lockouts
- Fuel delivery
- Communicate ETAs and service updates to customers
- Complete jobs safely and efficiently
- Upload before-and-after photos for each service
- Obtain customer signatures at job completion
- Update job status in the dispatch system or mobile app
- Follow roadside safety procedures and local regulations
- Maintain professional customer service standards
Contractor Requirements
- Independent contractor (1099) – not an employee position
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation
- Smartphone with data plan (for dispatch, photos, navigation)
- Ability to work outdoors and lift up to 50 lbs
- Basic automotive or mechanical skills
- Availability for weekday mornings and weekends
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
