Senior Purchasing Manager

Lighting Maintenance Inc
Harmans, MD Full Time
POSTED ON 4/25/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/24/2026

We’re not looking for an order-taker. We’re looking for a dealmaker.

Lighting Maintenance Inc. is seeking a high-impact, results-driven Senior Purchasing Manager who knows how to push vendors, challenge pricing, and drive real cost savings across a growing electrical and lighting contractor operating in multiple states. This is a hands-on, fully engaged role for someone who thrives in fast-paced construction environments and understands how to leverage volume, relationships, and competition to win.

If you’ve spent the last decade negotiating with suppliers, rental companies, and vendors, and you know how to extract value while maintaining strong partnerships—this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all purchasing activities across service and construction divisions
  • Aggressively negotiate pricing with suppliers, rental companies, and vendors
  • Develop and maintain competitive vendor relationships to drive cost savings
  • Support estimating and bidding teams with accurate, competitive material and equipment pricing
  • Coach managers and coordinators across divisions on purchasing best practices
  • Standardize procurement processes and eliminate inefficiencies
  • Oversee deliveries and material flow at the local warehouse
  • Ensure accountability across all purchasing decisions—no passive approvals
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measurable improvements
  • Partner with leadership to align purchasing strategy with company growth goals

Financial & Process Oversight

  • Strong working knowledge of accounting fundamentals as they relate to purchasing
  • Full ownership and understanding of the requisition-to-payment cycle, including:
    • Requisitions and approvals
    • Purchase Orders (POs) creation and tracking
    • Material receiving and verification
    • Invoice matching and reconciliation
    • Approval workflows and controls
  • Ensure accuracy and discipline across PO issuance, receiving, and invoicing processes
  • Collaborate with accounting to maintain clean, auditable procurement records
  • Drive process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce administrative overhead

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain within construction, electrical, or similar industries
  • Proven track record of successful negotiation with vendors, suppliers, and rental companies
  • Deep understanding of construction materials, equipment, and pricing dynamics
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, including procurement workflows and cost control
  • Experience supporting estimating and bidding operations
  • Ability to influence and coach internal teams to improve purchasing performance
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven
  • Polished communicator with strong presence and leadership capability

What Success Looks Like

  • Measurable reduction in material and rental costs
  • Improved consistency and discipline across all divisions
  • Strong vendor competition and pricing leverage
  • Streamlined procurement processes with minimal waste
  • Increased support and alignment with estimating and operations teams

Compensation

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Performance-based incentives tied to measurable savings and results
  • Full benefits package

Bottom Line

If you’re someone who accepts vendor pricing at face value, this isn’t the job.

If you’re someone who knows how to push, negotiate, and deliver real financial impact—while building a scalable, disciplined purchasing function—we want to talk.
