What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Development position at Lighthouse Vocational Services?
7:30am – 4:00pm with some instances of working outside these normal hours
This position reports to the CEO and works Monday through Friday, with occasional weeknights and weekends.
The Director of Development will oversee all the organization’s fundraising and development activities. Duties include planning fundraising events, interacting with donors to encourage ongoing contributions, developing and maintaining relationships while seeking out opportunities for financial support through grants and sponsorships.
The Director of Development will build and guide relationships both internally and externally by identifying opportunities to develop and strengthen relationships to advance Lighthouse. Employee will identify areas where Lighthouse can increase its footprint and collaborate with the CEO, board members, and leadership staff to improve operations and assist with strategic planning.
Director of Development will also communicate with Lighthouse management teams to highlight business or marketing strategies.

Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business administration preferred
- At least four years of development/fundraising experience with a proven track record of increasing donor bases in a non-profit organization
- Enthusiastic leader capable of working well with diverse clients and building relationships that support Lighthouse Vocational Services
- Excellent relationship development and management skills to build external relationships
- Build and lead effective cross-functional teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have ability to use Microsoft office products, Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge NXT social media platforms
- Establish fundraising goals for the organization — implement and evaluate
- Execute monthly giving program, annual fundraising strategies, events and campaigns
- Create reports to analyze and measure progress
- Lead brand awareness
- Participate in speaking engagements, fundraising events,
- Oversight and supervision of written communication and social media platforms to reach donors and sponsors
- Oversight and supervision of Grant Writing and Volunteerism
- Be an active participant in the fundraising and related board committees
- Oversight and evaluation of the Customer relationship Management System-Blackbaud
- Develop business partnerships
- Participates in Senior Leadership Team and supports all agendas of the team and maintain corporate confidentiality.
- Maintain financial donor history to report to the Director of Finance and CEO and to ensure continuity of donorship.
- Works as a team player with colleagues to promote positive and engaging work environment
- Have monthly meetings and weekly updates with supervisor for performance review/goal setting implementations/coaching
- Complete annual required online training on Relias training platform
- Advocates for the rights of individuals with IDD in various settings, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Supports the mission and vision of Lighthouse Vocational Services
- All other duties as assigned by the CEO.
