The Lighthouse of Houston is seeking a blind or low vision employee to work on their federal government service contract.
The RRB Scanning Clerk Lead is a team leader position for the scanning clerk team and leads the team, under the supervision of the Business Services Manager, in receiving mail, sorting, scanning, and preparation of documents for transmission into the client’s electronic and digital database system. This position is a service contract position for the Railroad Retirement Board and responsible for following all regulations and rules in handling confidential documents for scanning and formatting into the client’s digitized system.
The RRB Scanning Clerk Lead must lead by example, and lead with humility, trust, and respect. It is important for individuals to be committed to a continuous learning environment and be a champion for change, with a teamwork mentality.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Follows all safety protocols and guidelines for promoting a safe work environment and apply good day to day housekeeping of work area.

Receives incoming mail designated for the Railroad Retirement Board and scans all pertinent information as needed.

Ensures documents are prioritized to be scanned and the urgency of the request based on guidelines.

Ensure information is integrated into data base through personal computer scanning hardware and software.

Verified that images are clear and index for making any corrections if needed.

Makes proper disposition of documents when established records are unavailable.

Requires unboxing, sorting and stamping documents with incoming dates.

Assists customers with any concerns or issues and ensures all customer concerns have been addressed and resolved.

Applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day to day work activities.

Maintains positive working relationships and fosters cooperative work environment.

Follows all confidentiality rules to preserve data quality and reduce chance for information or compromise.

Qualifications:Education, Licensure and Experience:

High school diploma or GED

Prior scanning knowledge is preferred.

Government clearance and federal credentials are required and can apply through organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities but has lead responsibilities, under the supervisor of the Business Services Manager, in overseeing the team’s day to day activities and schedules and provides updates and reports to the Business Services Manager.

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting and frequent use of the computer for keyboarding and data entry. This position may also require some lifting of boxes of 10 to 40 pounds. Lifting assistance can be provided for boxes greater than 50 pounds.
