Position Summary
The Traveling Project Manager is responsible for the overall management of current projects from project award through completion, and for oversight of Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers.
- Manage electrical construction projects to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.
- Oversee project financial performance including developing schedules of values (SOV), billing submissions, cost tracking, forecasting, purchase orders, and financial reporting.
- Participate in monthly financial reviews including analysis of project cash flow, billing status, financial position, risk exposure, and change order progress.
- Coordinate and manage the RFI process, submittals, change orders, and project documentation to ensure timely resolution of project issues.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and coordinate solutions related to schedule, scope changes, manpower adjustments, materials, safety, and quality control.
- Manage and coordinate the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process from project estimate through 3D coordination, prefabrication, and field installation.
- Collaborate with field leadership, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure proper coordination of electrical work with overall project activities.
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, schedules, and other project documents to support effective planning and execution.
- Lead project meetings with internal teams, customers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to communicate project status and expectations.
- Support employee performance development by providing feedback, participating in performance evaluations, and assisting with training and mentorship of project team members.
- Assist with project closeout activities including punch list completion, documentation, record drawings, and final project turnover.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, general contractors, and business partners while supporting new business opportunities.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Work Experience:
Required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical construction project management or related construction management experience.
- Experience managing commercial or industrial electrical construction projects including budgeting, scheduling, and project financial management.
- Experience coordinating with field supervision, subcontractors, and multi-trade construction teams.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
Preferred
- Experience managing projects valued $50M or greater electrical scopes within large-scale projects.
- Experience with BIM coordination and prefabrication workflows.
- Experience working within joint venture or large multi-contractor project environments.
Education:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Preferred
- Electrical license, PMP certification, or other construction/project management certification.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of construction financial reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project forecasting.
- Proficiency in construction and project management software such as Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Accubid, or similar systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to anticipate, analyze, and resolve project challenges in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with field teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Travel Requirements:
This position is classified as a Traveling Project Manager and requires relocation and travel to assigned project sites for the duration of each project, with flexibility to transition to subsequent projects as required.
Travel Home Every Fourth Week
Leave Thursday after normal working hours and return Monday. Eight hours will be paid for Friday and Monday. The expectation for receiving pay for both Friday and Monday is that you are available for phone calls and meetings during normal business hours on both days. A good faith effort shall be made to limit disruption to the project. Employee requests for variations to the travel agreement will be handled on a per request basis with the employee’s direct supervisor and shall be to the basic intent of the agreement.
