Lighthouse Counseling and Family Resource Center is seeking a compassionate, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) to provide high-quality, trauma-informed mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. The AMFT plays an integral role in supporting our mission to deliver vital services, programs and access to community resources to people in need of hope and healing.

This is a full-time position (32 to 40 hours a week -- Monday through Friday), based at our Auburn Office in Placer County.

The ideal candidate is passionate about serving diverse populations, values collaboration, and embraces a whole-person approach that integrates behavioral health, family support services, and community partnerships. This position works closely with both the Placer County HHS team (ASOC and CSOC) and Lighthouse Counseling staff to ensure clients receive comprehensive, coordinated care that addresses both clinical and social determinants of health. Core responsibilities align with best practices for community mental health clinicians, including assessment, treatment planning, documentation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and crisis response.

Reports to: Clinical Director

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, family, couples, and group psychotherapy utilizing evidence-based treatment models.
  • Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and establish DSM-5 diagnoses when appropriate.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and regularly review client progress.
  • Maintain an active caseload while meeting productivity expectations.
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and risk assessments for clients experiencing behavioral health emergencies.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups.
  • Coordinate care with primary care providers, schools, community agencies, and other treatment providers.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Complete clinical documentation, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries within required timelines.
  • Maintain accurate electronic health records.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, California Board of Behavioral Sciences regulations, Medi-Cal documentation standards, and agency policies.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality assurance activities, and outcome reporting.

Collaboration & Community Integration:

  • Collaborate with Lighthouse Counseling staff, including Family Resource Center team to provide integrated, whole-person services.
  • Population Focus - Placer County: Adult System of Care (ASOC) and Children System of Care (CSOC).
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case consultations.
  • Provide warm handoffs and referrals to community resources.
  • Support Lighthouse outreach initiatives and community wellness events as assigned.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in weekly clinical supervision and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Stay current on evidence-based therapeutic interventions and trauma-informed care.
  • Participate in agency trainings and professional development.
  • Support our mission, values, and commitment to culturally responsive care.

Qualifications/Education:

  • Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or closely related behavioral health field
  • Registered associate (AMFT, ASW, APCC) pursuing licensure.
  • Strong clinical skills and experience with trauma-informed, culturally responsive counseling.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Familiarity with Cal-AIM, Medi-Cal billing, or other public behavioral health systems a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and multidisciplinary teams.
