JOB TITLE: TLC Tutor
DEPARTMENT: The Learning Center
REPORTS TO: TLC Coordinator
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
JOB SUMMARY: To provide quality tutoring to students identified with dyslexia or other reading challenges using the Barton Reading System.
Approximately 10 hours/week to start with opportunity to increase hours/week throughout the year.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Born-again Christian and credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Scriptures
- Accepts and supports the school’s statement of faith and indicates a continuing sense of God’s direction in working at Lighthouse Christian School
- Demonstrated clerical expertise and experience
- The ability to work efficiently with a service-oriented attitude
- Proficient communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent personal relations with staff and the public at large
- Prior training in tutoring Barton Reading and Spelling program is preferred but not required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Tutor students on pre-determined schedule keeping fidelity to the Barton Reading and Spelling program
- Maintains written documentation of student’s progress through the program
- Report progress of student at the end of each session in written form
- Complete necessary training for tutoring modules within the Barton Reading and Spelling program
- Perform duties as assigned by program coordinators
- Participate in in-service professional development, devotions, meetings and training as required
