JOB TITLE: School Health Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Student Support
REPORTS TO: School Nurse
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
- Position to be between 10-13 hours per week: M/W/F afternoons, with the possibility of other hours available.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a born-again Christian.
- Must be a credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Bible.
- Must be able to support and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith and Statement of Conduct.
- Must possess Biblical knowledge and the ability to integrate Scripture into subject matters taught.
- Must have an understanding of and commitment to Lighthouse Christian School educational objectives and philosophy of education.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Eligible for Instructor's Certification CPR and First Aid.
- Must have sufficient health and physical endurance to be able to complete assigned responsibilities.
- High School diploma or GED
- 18 years of age or older
ESSENTIAL: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to properly administer first aid/CPR if necessary. (First Aid, CPR and Bloodborne Pathogens certification required – provided by school if necessary)
- Assists in the care of ill and injured student in accordance with established guidelines; refers- any questions, unresolved concerns and complex problems to the nurse and/or administration.
- Supports procedures for crisis intervention for emergencies, acute illnesses, injuries, and emotional disturbances.
- Understands emergency response procedures such as using “Right Response” to develop a team response for urgent or emergency health concerns.
- Maintains log of student entering the health center.
- Notifies parents/guardians of emergent questions or concerns.
- Contributes to daily function of health room environment by maintaining organization of supplies and cleanliness standards.
- Accesses and maintains organization of emergency contact telephone information and other pertinent data; prepares various reports as requested.
- Participates in meetings, devotions, professional learning community and Inservice as required.
- Appropriately realizes student accident, incident reports, and communication for school safety issues.
- Promotes a safe school environment. Supports student health and well-bring for student return to class activities.
- Maintains confidentiality of health information on a need-to-know basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORK REQUIREMENTS
- Part time, non-exempt position based upon the school year calendar.
- Hourly wage as outlined in the annual at-will employment agreement.
