Position Summary
LifeSource Hospice is seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Director (Director of Nursing) to lead and oversee all clinical operations. This leadership role ensures high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination of the interdisciplinary team.
The Clinical Director is responsible for supervision of clinical staff, clinical quality oversight, and ensuring hospice services meet CHAP standards and state/federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Oversight
Supervise and support the hospice clinical team (RNs, LPNs, aides, social workers, chaplains)
Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to case managers
Ensure appropriate staffing and caseload distribution
Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations
Quality & Compliance
Ensure compliance with CHAP standards, NJ regulations, and Medicare Conditions of Participation
Oversee clinical documentation for accuracy and timeliness
Lead quality improvement and QAPI initiatives
Participate in survey readiness and regulatory audits
Patient Care Oversight
Review and approve plans of care
Monitor symptom management and clinical appropriateness
Support complex case management and escalation needs
Ensure coordination of care across disciplines
Operations
Utilize WellSky EMR for clinical oversight and documentation review
Oversee medication management and e-prescribing workflows using BetterRx
Participate in IDT meetings and clinical case reviews
Collaborate with physicians, facilities, and community partners
Qualifications
Active NJ RN license in good standing
Minimum 2–3 years hospice experience (preferred)
Experience in home health or long-term care considered
Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of CHAP hospice standards and regulations
Experience with WellSky EMR and BetterRx a plus
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Compassionate and patient-centered approach
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
