Provide rapid, community based crisis assessment, intervention, and short term stabilization for individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies. Services are delivered where the crisis occurs including homes, schools, shelters, and other community locations, with telehealth used when appropriate. The role prioritizes diversion from jail, emergency departments, and psychiatric hospitalization when clinically appropriate and consistent with least restrictive care. This position functions as part of a mobile crisis team and collaborates closely with the broader crisis continuum to ensure timely assessment, coordinated clinical recommendations, and access to appropriate services. Services may include brief individual, family, or group interventions and collaborative treatment planning as clinically appropriate during crisis stabilization and follow up. All services are delivered using trauma informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered practices with a focus on safety, dignity, and least restrictive care.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver mobile behavioral health crisis services including de-escalation, safety planning, stabilization, and functional support to reduce the need for unnecessary emergency department visits, hospitalization, or legal involvement
  • Conduct crisis assessments, risk assessments, and stabilization services in the community and make referrals to the appropriate level of care, including for individuals with OUD and co-occurring disorders
  • Provide brief individual, family, or group therapeutic interventions and develop crisis care or initial treatment plans as clinically appropriate
  • Collaborate with the Mobile Crisis Peer Support Specialist and other team members to deliver coordinated support and care planning
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, healthcare providers, schools, DCBS, hospitals, jails, and community organizations to resolve crises and facilitate access to appropriate resources
  • Provide consultation, education, and collaborative problem solving with community partners as needed
  • Develop individualized crisis plans that focus on least restrictive interventions and promote recovery-oriented care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client contacts, assessments, interventions, and referrals in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training related to crisis intervention, trauma informed care, and evidence-based practices
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision, case consultation, and case review to support quality care, licensure requirements, and professional growth
  • Work alternate schedules and participate in on call coverage as needed to meet 24/7 program needs
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of licensure and training.

JOB REQUIREMENTS / EXPECTATIONS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer for clinical documentation
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout a variety of service environments as required
  • May require transporting individuals as part of job duties and must maintain a valid driver’s license and active insurance if applicable
  • Work is performed in variable environments that may involve exposure to individuals in acute emotional distress
  • Crisis services operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Work hours may be irregular and may include evenings, weekends, holidays, overnight shifts, and on call responsibilities based on operational and coverage needs
  • Performance is evaluated through clinical supervision, documentation reviews, quality assurance measures, productivity standards, and achievement of departmental and agency goals
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited program
  • Active associate, provisional, or temporary licensure in the state under approved clinical supervision
  • Ability to conduct clinical assessments and provide appropriate crisis intervention services
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention principles, suicide risk assessment, and trauma informed care
  • Strong verbal communication, written documentation, and organizational skills
