What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Child Evaluation Specialist (52861) position at LIFESKILLS GROUP?
The District Child Evaluation Specialist, as part of the Point of Entry (POE/LLA) KEIS (formerly First Steps) team, shall work to enhance the quality and appropriateness of KEIS services by utilizing their expertise in early childhood development for screening and evaluation of children referred to KEIS (ages birth to three); identifying the appropriate discipline(s) for the eligibility determination; reviewing of IFSPs and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have at least a bachelor's degree and certification as a speech therapist, physical therapist, occupational therapist or developmental interventionist.
A. Education:
*Must be a graduate of a college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in a qualifying professional discipline in accordance with 902 KAR 30:150E.
B. Experience:
*Must have at least four years of multidisciplinary team experience, evaluating/assessing and working with children with and without developmental disabilities or delays between the ages of birth and five years, with emphasis in the birth to three age group.
C. Credentials & Licenses:
*Must hold a current license and/or certification for their profession (i.e. speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, developmental interventionist) from their discipline-specific state licensing or certification body in Kentucky.
*Must be currently approved, or qualify to be approved as a Kentucky Early Intervention System developmental evaluator in accordance with 902 KAR 30:150E.
D. Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
*Must have supervised training and experience in administering norm-referenced and criterion referenced instruments.
*Must have a least one year experience in administering, scoring and interpreting the Bayley Scales of Infant Development in a standardized, reliable and valid manner, OR be eligible to be certified on the Bayley after training.
*Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of early childhood development by completing a competency assessment on early childhood development at a proficiency level as established by the Cabinet.
E. Substitutions:
*Master’s degree or higher in a qualifying discipline is preferred and will substitute for two (2) years’ experience as required in [B.]
*Any other substitutions, where a valid case can be made for equivalent competency, must be requested from and approved by Central Office on a case-by-case basis.
