What are the responsibilities and job description for the SBB Program Director position at LIFESHARE BLOOD CENTER?

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the supervision, administration, and coordination of the instructional staff in the didactic, laboratory, and clinical phases of the Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) educational program. Responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and the effectiveness of the program. Ensures all accreditation requirements are met, reports are submitted on time, and the SBB Advisory Committee is informed about Program activities and status.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Selects students based on criteria established by Advisory Committee.
- Communicates with CoA and AABB as needed to maintain Program within accreditation requirements.
- Monitors student progress and acts as primary contact for them.
- Updates curriculum and exams as determined by student feedback and grades, incorporating new information as it is added to the field of blood banking.
- Schedules and leads Advisory Committee meetings.
- Prepares and submits annual report to CAAHEP.
- Meets and exceeds customer expectations and adheres to established quality practices while seeking to continually improve work performance.
- Models LifeShare’s mission and values, integrating them into daily decisions, behaviors and actions.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Current SBB certification from ASCP required
- Must have current experience in immunohematology and hemotherapy
- Must demonstrate technical competence through annual continuing education
- Must demonstrate current experience in education activities
- Must have excellent organizational skills
- Must demonstrate clear, concise verbal and written communication
