We have an opportunity for a Senior Database Administrator. The candidate must reside in Tallahassee, or the surrounding area, and report in office 5 days a week. Telecommuting will not be considered Travel and relocation expenses will not be covered by the client or employer.
Applicants responding to this position must be a US Citizen and will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements by currently possessing the ability to view classified government information. Must have lived in the US for the past 5 years.

Scope of Services:
The DBA team is responsible for ensuring the application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schemas meet the department standards for data requirements. The candidate in this position will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, amendments and optimization of the schema to meet system(s) requirements. The candidate must be able to understand and demonstrate the ability to develop database and warehousing design across multiple platforms and computing environments. The candidate must be able to work as part of a team to assist in developing an overall data architecture that supports the Department’s needs and meets Department and Agency for State Technology (AST) security standards.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
Experience
The candidate must have skill and 15 years combined experience in database administration for the following database platforms:
- DB2 for z/OS
- SQL Server 2008R2, 2012
- Oracle 10g and above
- Experience with the client’s integrated database infrastructure is a plus.
- Knowledge of the client’s Financial Management applications is a plus.
- Knowledge of the client’s integrated application environment is a plus
Primary Job Duties/Tasks:
This resource will primarily be tasked with performing Database (DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, GIS) planning and operational activities including, but not limited to the following:
- Daily operational and database administration activities
- Plan, design, implement, support for database structures
- Conduct database performance monitoring and tuning
- Develop and maintain database administration procedures and documentation
- Perform SQL Code reviews
- Assist with training/mentoring other technical staff This resource may also be required to perform other database or infrastructure activities as requested
