Job Description

GeekSI covers 100 percent employer contribution toward health insurance premiums for employees and 50 percent for dependents.

We are looking for a remote Database Administrator / Engineer to establish and maintain databases used for development, test, production, data warehousing, and public access. The DBA will also monitor and review database systems to ensure efficiency, integrity, and security of operation and to eliminate problems related to hardware, software, and procedural error.

The Must-Haves: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below

  • Must currently reside in the US
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator / Engineer
  • Experience with SSIS/ETL
  • Experience with SQL Server (SQL Queries, Stored Procedures, DB Optimization and Layout)
  • Ability to understand CDW Data schemas
  • Experience with Azure Security (with regards to SSL Certs)
  • Experience with AWS or Azure Devops (such as Kudu within Azure)
  • Experience with database management systems (DBMS) and relational database concepts
  • Experience with database administration tools, such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Management Studio, or MySQL Workbench
  • Experience with data modeling and database design principles
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery technologies and techniques
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Skills/Experience: The experience listed below are preferred, but not required, for this job

  • Certification, such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise in the support and operation of enterprise database systems.
  • Implement, maintain, and optimize databases to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient data management across multiple platforms.
