Sanitation Technician Level 1 – Industrial Nutraceutical Manufacturing

Job Summary: The Sanitation Technician Level 1 is an entry-level sanitation role for employees who are new to the company or new to sanitation work. This role learns and performs basic housekeeping, wash room support, cleaning, chemical safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, documentation, and sanitation readiness tasks under direct supervision in a regulated nutraceutical manufacturing environment.Note: This job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this position. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine housekeeping tasks in assigned areas, including breakrooms, bathrooms, hallways, locker areas, offices, common spaces, and production support areas.
- Assist with basic wash room tasks, including rinsing, washing, sanitizing, drying, staging, and organizing production parts, utensils, containers, and tools as directed.
- Learn and follow sanitation procedures, cleaning schedules, work instructions, GMP requirements, allergen controls, and contamination prevention practices.
- Use approved cleaning chemicals, detergents, sanitizers, and personal protective equipment safely under supervision.
- Remove trash, production waste, cardboard, and debris from assigned areas and dispose of materials in designated locations.
- Maintain sanitation supplies, tools, chemical storage areas, and wash room workspaces in a clean and organized condition.
- Complete cleaning logs, checklists, and sanitation documentation accurately with review from a qualified sanitation technician or supervisor.
- Communicate supply needs, sanitation status, and potential safety or quality concerns to the supervisor.

- Sanitation, maintenance, production, quality, warehouse, safety, and operations personnel
External Customers
- Chemical, sanitation supply, pest control, equipment, and service vendors as directed
Accountability:
- Direct accountability to the Maintenance Manager or designated sanitation leadership
Qualifications and Guidelines:
Required:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- New to the company or new to sanitation; previous housekeeping, production, food, dietary supplement, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, cleaning procedures, safety rules, and documentation requirements.
- Willingness to learn GMPs, sanitation procedures, chemical handling, PPE requirements, and contamination prevention practices.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in housekeeping, sanitation, production support, or regulated manufacturing.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, work around water and cleaning chemicals, and wear required personal protective equipment.
