What You’ll Do
As a Birth Tissue Tech Assistant, you will directly contribute to LifeLink’s life-saving mission.
Responsible for activities associated with tissue processing. These areas include, but are not limited to debridement, dissection, cleaning and disinfection, cutting, culturing and packaging of tissue for transplant.
Key Responsibilities
Extended hours may be necessary during peak processing periods. Working environment temperature may vary from 68 degrees F to 80 degrees F. Hazardous conditions include, but are not limited to, the use of Hydrochloric Acid and Ethyl Alcohol in the work area, the potential of exposure to bodily fluids and the possibility of obtaining cuts and/or punctures to skin from sharp instruments and equipment. All necessary safety equipment and instruction will be provided.

What You’ll Do
As a Birth Tissue Tech Assistant, you will directly contribute to LifeLink’s life-saving mission.
Responsible for activities associated with tissue processing. These areas include, but are not limited to debridement, dissection, cleaning and disinfection, cutting, culturing and packaging of tissue for transplant.
Key Responsibilities
- Circulate in clean room setting.
- Thorough knowledge and comprehension of cleaning, cutting, packaging and culturing of allografts.
- Create clear and accurate records as it relates to the proper documentation of processing procedures.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of, and adhere to, protocols set forth in the LifeLink Tissue Bank Standards and Procedures Manual.
- Attain and maintain basic knowledge and understanding of equipment and instrumentation being used for processing.
- Assist in the preparation of all sterile work areas and supplies needed for various stages of birth tissue processing.
- Observe environmental conditions and report deficiencies to supervisor.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of clean room disinfection and cleaning including but not limited to ancillary areas and class 100 clean rooms.
- Attain and maintain basic knowledge of central services sterilization processes and techniques.
- Attain a thorough understanding of placenta recovery and critical times.
- Learn and understand processing procedures for birth tissue allografts.
- Perform data entry in the LTS/BTM system.
- Pass random observational audits by manager, supervisor and Quality Assurance as necessary for the Birth Tissue Tech Assistant position.
- Adhere to the Processing Department Time and Attendance Policy.

- High School diploma, higher education preferred.
- Ability to work with craftsman type equipment and tooling.
- Ability to stand for ninety percent of the work time.
- Demonstrated interpersonal ability to interact with fellow staff members, supervisors and management.
- Visual acuity and manual dexterity are necessary to prepare tissue for clinical use in an aseptic manner.
- Demonstrated physical ability to lift, carry and/or move equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds.
