Animal Shelter Manager

Now Hiring: Animal Shelter Manager (part time, 25-30 hours per week)

Position Summary:

The Animal Shelter Manager oversees shelter operations, staff, volunteers, animal care, compliance, and community partnerships.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage daily shelter operations.
• Coordinate intake, adoptions, transfers, and foster homes.
• Maintain records and regulatory compliance.
• Manage budgets, supplies, and facilities.
• Build community partnerships with donors, local businesses and other rescues.
• Be present at shelter during public hours. Check Gmail, phone messages, and social media messages a minimum of three times per day.
• Generate kennel tech shift schedules a minimum of two weeks in advance. Oversee maintenance of complete and up-to-date animal records, both computer and paper files.
• Provide monthly animal census for Board of Directors meeting, including intake information for all new animals.
• Coordinate vet visits, and ensure all medications are available, properly administered, and documented.
• Coordinate all foster homes, adoptions, adoption events, and volunteer outings.
• Oversee training of new kennel tech employees, and ensure their competency.
• Oversee routine maintenance and cleaning schedules are being completed.
• Promptly report ANY animal care, employee, or facility maintenance issues to appropriate board members.

Qualifications:

• Three years of supervisory experience preferred
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Knowledge of animal care and humane handling, including venipuncture, knowledge of common shelter medications, administering vaccinations, and insertion of microchips
• Computer proficiency
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work flexible hours
