Position Summary

Vista Taos is looking for full and part-time Residential Treatment Assistants to provide direct supervision, support, and structure to individuals in residential treatment. This position is responsible for promoting client safety, maintaining a therapeutic environment, and supporting day-to-day program operations. RTAs play a vital role in reinforcing program expectations, modeling positive behavior, and helping clients engage in their recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Client Supervision and Support

  • Monitor client activity and behavior and provide redirection and reinforcement of program rules
  • Assist clients with daily routines, assignments, and engagement in structured activities
  • Conduct 30-minute room checks during overnight shifts to ensure client safety
  • Set and maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries
  • Provide transportation to meetings, appointments, and community outings
  • Facilitate client phone calls as directed
  • Conduct property inventories at intake, discharge, and when new items are introduced

Safety and Program Operations

  • Perform random room searches and emergency safety drills as assigned
  • Reinforce program rules, schedules, and expectations in a consistent and respectful manner
  • Work collaboratively with Detox staff and Medication Technicians to ensure continuity of care
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness in the facility during assigned shifts

Documentation and Communication

  • Document client routines and behavior in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Complete concise and professional communication logs at the end of each shift
  • Maintain charts, update client handbooks, and complete assigned administrative tasks
  • Communicate effectively with staff and supervisors to support smooth handoffs and coordination

Group and Community Engagement

  • Facilitate education and community groups assigned by clinical staff
  • Serve as a positive role model for clients and promote a recovery-oriented environment

Training and Compliance

  • Complete all required training, including Relias Learning modules aligned with Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) requirements
  • Participate in at least two hours of trauma-informed care training
  • Maintain compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 42
  • Attend all assigned staff meetings, individual supervision sessions, and LifeHouse training
  • Follow all LifeHouse policies and procedures and uphold confidentiality standards

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate
  • Customer service or client relations experience
  • Strong communication and observation skills
  • Ability to maintain clear boundaries and model professional behavior

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or residential care
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices
  • Ability to document clearly and professionally in electronic systems

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
