Chief Financial Officer — Insurance & Capital Strategy

Company Description

Lifecor is a life insurance carrier in formation, built at the forefront of AI-driven insurance. The organization combines automated underwriting, real-time data infrastructure, and modern technology to deliver faster, smarter, and more transparent life insurance products. Lifecor’s model pairs disciplined risk management with advanced AI capabilities to create a carrier optimized for speed, precision, and scale. The company is designed with aligned incentives across policyholders, distribution partners, and the enterprise, offering a modern environment for professionals who want to shape the future of insurance.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will lead all financial strategy and operations for Lifecor as we build, capitalize, acquire, and launch a new life insurance carrier and scale our AI-driven insurance platform.

Role Description

The CFO will oversee financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, capital allocation, financial reporting, and internal controls, while also taking ownership of the work unique to building a carrier from the ground up. This includes fundraising, carrier acquisition economics, statutory capital and surplus planning, reinsurance strategy, investment planning, regulatory filings, and financial infrastructure development.

Working closely with Lifecor’s Founder, executive team, actuaries, attorneys, reinsurers, regulators, investors, and financial institutions, the CFO will provide executive-level guidance across product economics, underwriting strategy, risk management, liquidity, profitability, and long-term growth.

Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of both Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and GAAP accounting, including statutory financial statements, regulatory schedules, audits, and insurance department reporting.
  • Experience managing capital and surplus, risk-based capital, liquidity, solvency, reserves, and regulatory capital requirements for an insurance carrier.
  • Proven expertise in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and long-term financial modeling.
  • Ability to evaluate product economics across premiums, claims, reserves, commissions, acquisition costs, reinsurance, operating expenses, and profitability.
  • Experience supporting or leading carrier formation, acquisition, capitalization, licensing, or change-of-control transactions is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of reinsurance economics, including YRT, coinsurance, capital relief, counterparty exposure, and the financial impact of different structures.
  • Experience developing investment, treasury, and asset-liability management strategies appropriate for a life insurance company.
  • Proven ability to lead fundraising, investor diligence, capital planning, financial presentations, and relationships with banks, investors, rating agencies, auditors, and regulators.
  • Experience building finance functions from the ground up, including controls, reporting processes, accounting systems, data infrastructure, audit readiness, and finance teams.
  • Ability to work closely with actuarial, underwriting, legal, compliance, technology, and distribution leadership on major financial and strategic decisions.
  • Strong executive judgment, analytical ability, and communication skills, with the confidence to present to boards, investors, regulators, and external partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required; CPA, CFA, MBA, or other advanced qualification preferred.
  • Prior experience as a CFO, Chief Accounting Officer, Treasurer, Controller, or senior insurance finance executive is strongly preferred.
