Role Overview
This role is critical to company operations, primarily responsible for the efficient dispatching of ambulances and optimizing resource allocation for timely responses and transports. It serves as the primary communication hub for all company phone calls (inbound and outbound). The dispatcher also performs essential administrative tasks and manages employee schedule oversight to ensure overall performance efficiency.
Primary Tasks
&
Responsibilities:
- Operates company CAD system, phone system, and base radio
- Answers all incoming calls and obtains pertinent information
- Answers routine questions and refers callers to the appropriate internal / external personnel
- Determines the nature and urgency of the call
- Deploys the appropriate resources and agencies
- Tracks the status and location of company resources and personnel
- In charge of optimal resource readiness with oversight of the daily / weekly / monthly employee schedule
- In charge of future call booking schedule to ensure transports are scheduled for optimal performance
- Transmits appropriate information to EMS units during responses / transports
- Provides emergency instruction to callers while EMS units respond if needed
- Consults with leadership on non-routine issues
- Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve company operations, improve 'turn-around times', streamline processes, and provide excellent customer service
Ancillary Duties
- Response / Transport time analytics
- Daily / Monthly call volume performance reports
- Paperwork Collection and scanning
- Organization of electronic files
- Paperwork and file destruction
- Maintain Permanent and weekly EMT schedules to include filling openings and generating ongoing worksheets
- Other Duties as assigned by leadership
Required Skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in the english language
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficiency with computer technology, other electronic devices and common softwares
- Multitasking; ability to answer calls, dispatch units, contact outside agencies simultaneously
Required Qualifications
&
Experience
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Current Emergency Medical Dispatching certified; or certification within the past 3 years with the ability to regain certification within the first 6 months
- Current CPR certification or ability to be certified within the first 90 days of employment
- Minimum of one year experience dispatching emergency and non-emergency ambulance calls (2-5 years preferred)
- Current or past EMT certification preferred (not required)
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet minimum may be considered
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,000.00 - $58,250.00 per year
