About The Role

  • Responsible for managing and abstracting detailed clinical information for patients treated for traumatic injuries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Abstraction: Reviewing complex electronic medical records to extract demographic, clinical, and pre-hospital data for injured patients.
  • Injury Scoring: Assigning specialized coding, such as ICD-10-CM diagnosis and Abbreviated Injury Scale scores, to define the severity of injuries.
  • Quality Improvement: Tracking outcomes, complications, and performance metrics to help trauma teams understand how to improve care.
  • Regulatory Reporting: Ensuring data meets the standards of the National Trauma Data Standard, the American College of Surgeons. and Maryland Trauma Regulations.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate's degree required
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience preferred with data abstraction, ICD-10 coding and medical terminology

Salary range $22 to $29/hour dependent on experience and internal equity
