Summary
Unit Description: The Women’s Oncology Unit at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore is a 29-bed surgical oncology unit with a focus on GYN malignancies. We care for a large variety of oncology patients, including male patients with solid tumors, orthopedic cancer and hematologic cancers amongst others. With a large, complex post-surgical population, this setting will allow the development of strong assessment, intervention and communication skills. Team Members also cares for patients who develop complications from their disease and complications from complex chemotherapy; during their stay, here you will develop strong relationships with both patients and their families. Capable of developing and/or advancing post-operative, oncology and chemotherapy skills.

Experience: * Less than one year
Education: *Associate degree in nursing and/or Bachelor of Science in Nursing and/or Master of Science in Nursing
Licenses And Certification: * Registered Nurse License - Current Maryland license or eligibility to obtain Maryland license

- Accurately evaluates assigned patient and documents clinical assessments, including emotional and physical pain, and required comfort measures; prioritizing patient/family needs into plan of care.
- Assesses and documents patient/family educational needs: to aid in informed decision making about healthcare treatment and to provide a successful transfer within the healthcare environment; coordinates with peers to establish educational resources as needed.
- Performs hourly rounding. Develops and coordinates discharge plans, independently or in collaboration with other staff.
