Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure daily customer happiness
- Verify insurance coverage via insurance websites or phone calls to insurance companies
- Responsible for coding and billing ambulance and wheelchair charges
- Accurate use of ICD9 and CPT codes
- Must maintain current knowledge of all insurance billing guidelines and requirements
- Answer patient phone inquiries ensuring excellent customer satisfaction
- Place follow up calls to patients, hospitals and physician offices to obtain necessary paperwork and information to release claim
- Enter patient and insurance correspondence into the computer system
- Must follow HIPAA guidelines at all times to protect customer PHI
- Other projects and duties as assigned
- Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Ability to type 40 WPM efficiently and accurately
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding
- Professional phone etiquette
- Accurate, basic typing skills and computer operation knowledge including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Must pass all Life EMS pre-employment requirements as outlined on the Conditional Offer of Employment
- Must demonstrate positive, respectful behavior in dealing with people at all levels.
- Must be interviewed by the Director of Customer Accounts or their designee.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
