Position Summary:
Join Life Cycle Engineering as a Senior Systems Engineer supporting the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) In-Service Modernization Program for Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) programs.
What You Will Do:
- Assist the NSWCPD Program Manager with coordination for new system installations and modifications to legacy HM&E (Hull, Mechanical, Electrical) systems during major ship maintenance availabilities.
- Coordinate the development for Ship Change Documents (SCDs) to govern equipment and system modifications aboard LCS-class ships.
- Ensure logistics certification and compliance with NAVSEA and NSWCPD standards.
- Support NSWCPD ISEA's with the lifecycle sustainment of fleet systems, including R&D, testing, acquisition, engineering, integration, in-service operations, and sustainment.
Clearance Required:
- Must be a US citizen and have an active DoD Secret security clearance.
Provide engineering/technical support for preliminary design activities; in-service ship design and engineering activities; shipboard installation planning; and related risks to ships/boats/craft, ship systems and/or shipboard equipment.
- Conduct reliability, maintainability, availability, hazard, environmental, occupational health, and safety risk analyses.
- The Contractor shall provide reports, plans, and other substantiating documentation as required.
- Facilitate and provide required technical information expertise to Integrated Process Teams (IPTs), special advisory boards, off-sites, working groups and audit teams. The Contractor shall perform research and work along with other key stakeholders such as NAVSEA Program Offices, NSWCPD Program Managers, and ISEA's.
- Review, maintain and make recommendations with regard to engineering plans, annual reports, program records, technical manuals, design histories, design configurations, databases, regulatory body and other documents.
- Support ongoing ship detail design requirements including the review of modernization products and deliverables in accordance with Government requirements and the preparation of analyses and recommendations for decisions to the program office.
- BS degree in engineering, naval architecture, science or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Senior/Mid-Level Experience Required: 5-10 years Navy program management, Government technical management, or industry business management; Navy procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process); experience communicating with SES/Flag-level personnel desired.
- Previous experience as a Systems Engineer or a similar role with experience in ship system modernization processes and installation requirements.
- Experience in performing system engineering analyses, i.e., risk analysis, safety analysis, FMEA, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to aid interactions within Engineering, other internal departments, and external customers.
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to effectively muti-task and handle changing work assignments, schedules, and priorities.
- Ability to work independently.
- Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasionally prolonged sitting.
- Ability to speak, read, hear and write, without assistance.
