The incumbent is responsible for the organization and description of manuscript, multi- format, and other archival collections, which typically contain a wide range of unique and often unpublished materials, often numbering thousands of items, including handwritten or digital journals and correspondence, business ledgers, photographs and drawings, scrapbooks, and audiovisual recordings. The work requires orderly administration of the complexities of archival functions, including the use of computer technology and digital curation in relation to those duties. The incumbent works under the general supervision of a supervisory archivist or supervisory librarian who prioritizes work and provides advice on policy and technical problems.
