Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly hands‑on Yard Supervisor to lead a facility yard with high‑volume traffic. This is a leadership role that is responsible for managing day‑to‑day yard operations, directly leading hourly production staff, and ensuring quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the facility yard operates in a safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient manner
- Directly manage the yard employees including drivers and laborers.
- Plan and organize schedules to meet aggressive targets and deadlines
- Monitor processes continuously and adjust schedules or resources as needed
- Maintain strict quality standards and ensure compliance with company policies
- Use metrics to identify trends, drive improvements, and maximize organization, throughput, and profitability
- Optimize workflow, equipment utilization, and labor efficiency while reducing waste
- Collaborate closely with procurement, logistics, maintenance, and other internal departments
- Track daily performance and prepare accurate reports for site leadership
- Manage budgets, equipment, and raw materials required for shipment
- Ensure equipment is operated correctly and preventative maintenance activities are executed
- Partner with site leadership to drive best‑in‑class operational results
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proven ability to succeed in a demanding, high‑volume environment; strong mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop frontline teams
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking and reporting
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while focusing resources on high‑value work
- General understanding of OSHA regulations
- Strong financial and operational acumen
- Comfortable working alongside teams on the yard for the majority of the day
- Ability to foster a collaborative, team‑oriented work environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Education and Experience
- Minimum of three years of leadership experience
- Proven history of strong safety performance
- Experience managing logistics preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods; ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds independently; ability to work in varying temperatures, around moving mechanical equipment, and in environments with moderate to high noise levels.
