JOB SUMMARY
This position is for Emergency Department Revenue Coordinator whose responsibility is to review all aspects of Charge management in the Emergency Department setting to include, but not limited to charge validation, verification, Emergency Department documentation verification/HIM compliance, and revenue implementation verification. This position coordinates Emergency Department activities to promote optimal integration of clinical outcomes with documentation and governing body compliance. The position also requires administrative functions necessary which include, but are not limited to performing the day to day workflow that includes the careful analysis of the EMR System for continuous improvement and working collaboratively with all departments to improve Emergency Department logistical efficiency and accuracy. The position reports to the Director of Emergency Department.
Qualifications:JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum level of Education: Equivalent to completion of four years of high school with a high school diploma required. College courses preferred.
2. Formal Training: Skills with experience in planning, organizing, implementing, verbal and written communications preferred. Knowledge of and training in medical record assembling and analysis preferred.
3. Licensure, Certifications & Registration: None required.
4. Work Experience: Basic typing and computer skills with previous experience in hospital EHR, navigation through CPSI, hospital statistical analysis preferred.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
- Reviews charts/charges and evaluates the quality of documentation to identify incomplete or inconsistent documentation, demographics and other data that impacts the chart completion.
- Enters and audits charge capture and assists with charge master implementation.
- Completes follow-up on inaccurate documentation until a resolution has been obtained. This includes but is not limited to care providers, other departments, and/or the Emergency Department Director.
- Coordinates with necessary departments, providers, and/or Director of Emergency Department to resolve documentation/charge discrepancies.
- Maintains statistical data within the department for tracking of compliance and improvement of care.
- Ensures the timely completion of all department charts within timeframes specified by HIM department procedure and policy.
- Scans all loose or late documentation and rescans incorrectly scanned or mislabeled documents, including those that are scanned while still incomplete. Notifies chain of command when accuracy can’t be resolved.
- Serves as a resource for the department for scanning/documentation education.
- Performs administrative functions within the department, including but not limited to answering phone, copying, scanning, faxing, emailing and staffing coverage during department operating hours and lunch.
- Communicates deficiencies with physicians, practitioners and staff as well as chart completion.
