Our client, a well-established and growing MEP consulting engineering firm, is seeking to add a Mechanical Designer to join its collaborative engineering team. This is an outstanding opportunity to work alongside experienced Professional Engineers while designing HVAC and plumbing systems for a diverse portfolio of commercial, healthcare, institutional, laboratory, and other technically challenging building projects.
Whether you have a few years of MEP consulting experience or are looking to continue building your design expertise, this position offers excellent mentorship, career growth, and exposure to projects that will expand your technical skills.
As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, this role will assist in the design and coordination of mechanical building systems from concept through construction documentation. Responsibilities include:
- Design HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial and institutional buildings.
- Develop mechanical layouts and coordinated construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Perform HVAC load calculations and assist with equipment selection, duct sizing, and piping layouts.
- Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, and electrical disciplines.
- Participate in BIM coordination and support project design development.
- Assist with construction documents, engineering drawings, and project deliverables.
- Help develop practical, energy-efficient, and code-compliant building system designs.
- Participate in occasional field visits and existing conditions surveys as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Approximately 2 years of experience designing HVAC and/or plumbing systems within an MEP consulting engineering environment.
- Experience using Revit for mechanical building system design.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Understanding of HVAC system layouts, ductwork, piping systems, and mechanical design principles.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary project team.
- FE/EIT certification or progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is a plus but not required.
- Experience with healthcare, laboratory, institutional, pharmaceutical, higher education, or mission critical projects is beneficial but not required.
- Software Experience; Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office
- Experience with HVAC design software such as Trane Trace, HAP, or similar programs is a plus.
