What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Surety Underwriter position at Liberty Mutual Insurance Group?
Perform analytical evaluations of financial statements on both a static and trend basis. Develop/maintain strong relationships with agents/brokers and oversee a book of Surety business within defined territory/product line. Assist in the evaluation of business continuity arrangements and funding mechanisms (such as adequacy of life insurance) to preclude financial drain of customer in the event of the demise of (an) owner or other insurable loss. Assist Surety Accounting in the collection of agency/account overdue accounts receivable, accounting/billing issues as needed. Perform special projects as assigned including participation in team projects, marketing initiatives, etc. Telecommuting permitted up to 40%. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Finance, International Business or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a Sr. Surety Underwriter-related occupation. Marketing, underwriting, and servicing risk for an assigned book of business in a designated geographical area. Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge across the aligned territory and soliciting surety account submissions from assigned producer/customer base via marketing efforts. Independently and effectively calling on all producers/customers to support marketing activities and business plan development. Developing strategies to support producer/customer efforts to increase business activities and submissions. Providing technical expertise and direction to less experienced underwriters and helping maintain underwriting standards of business across the team. Monitoring the quality of underwriting in assigned offices utilizing self-audit processes or other applicable techniques. Evaluating and analyzing new surety obligations and providing management with reporting. Risk assessment and selection. Underwriting process management. Data analysis, interpretation and triangulation. Demonstrated Market knowledge and competitive intelligence. Demonstrated analysis of financial statements and creditworthiness.
