Downhole Rod Pump Assistant Store Manager

Position Summary

The Downhole Rod Pump Assistant Store Manager supports the overall operation of a high-volume rod pump service and distribution facility serving customers throughout the Permian Basin. This position assists in managing inventory, personnel, customer support, shop activities, logistics coordination, and safety compliance to ensure uninterrupted service to operators, production teams, and artificial lift customers.

Working closely with the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager plays a critical role in maintaining inventory availability, reducing equipment turnaround times, supporting field operations, and ensuring exceptional customer service in one of the nation's most active oil and gas producing regions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operations & Facility Management

• Assist with daily operations of the rod pump warehouse, service center, and distribution yard.
• Coordinate receiving, inspection, storage, rebuilding, and shipment of rod pumps and related artificial lift equipment.
• Support efficient movement of inventory to customer locations throughout the Midland, Odessa, Andrews, Pecos, Hobbs, and Delaware Basin areas.
• Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve responsiveness, efficiency, and profitability.
• Ensure customer orders, field deliveries, and emergency requests are fulfilled accurately and on time.

Inventory Management

• Maintain accurate inventory of:
• • Rod pumps
  • Barrels
  • Plungers
  • Traveling and standing valves
  • Pump parts and repair kits
  • Downhole accessories
  • Artificial lift components
• Conduct cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Investigate inventory variances and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment to support customer demand.
• Track repairable assets and oversee proper disposition of damaged or obsolete inventory.

Customer & Field Support

• Serve as a primary point of contact for production foremen, artificial lift specialists, pumpers, and field service personnel.
• Support sales representatives in meeting customer requirements and project deadlines.
• Coordinate urgent equipment needs resulting from pump failures, well interventions, and production optimization efforts.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with operators and service companies throughout the Permian Basin.
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through professional communication and timely service.

Leadership & Personnel Development

• Assist in supervising warehouse personnel, drivers, and service technicians.
• Provide coaching and training on inventory procedures, quality standards, and safety practices.
• Support scheduling and resource allocation to meet operational demands.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, customer service, and operational excellence.
• Assist with employee evaluations, coaching discussions, and performance improvement initiatives.

Logistics & Transportation

• Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments across the Permian Basin.
• Work closely with trucking providers, field personnel, and customer locations to ensure timely deliveries.
• Assist in managing fleet utilization and transportation costs.
• Support after-hours and emergency customer requests, as business needs require.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

• Enforce company safety policies and industry best practices.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and customer HSE requirements.
• Participate in safety meetings, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse and service facility.
• Promote a proactive safety culture with a goal of zero incidents.

Quality Assurance

• Verify all incoming and outgoing equipment meets company and customer specifications.
• Monitor rebuild and repair processes to ensure reliability and performance standards.
• Support root-cause analysis of equipment failures and customer returns.
• Ensure documentation and traceability requirements are maintained.

Administrative Duties

• Assist with preparation of inventory, operational, and financial reports.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) including inventory accuracy, fill rates, turnaround times, safety metrics, and customer satisfaction.
• Support budgeting and cost-control initiatives.
• Utilize ERP and inventory management systems to maintain accurate records.

Required Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in:
• • Rod pump operations
  • Artificial lift services
  • Oilfield distribution
  • Production operations
  • Warehouse management
• Minimum 1-2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Direct experience supporting Permian Basin oil and gas customers strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work in warehouse, shop, yard, and field environments.

• Occasional travel throughout the Permian Basin region.
